The Golden Visa

Non EU residents are able to benefit from the Golden Visa, a Portuguese residency via permit which allows the issue of a visa for free travel within the European Union and Schengen Countries.

To be issued with a visa, you must:

  • Buy a property worth equal to or more than €500.000
  • Complete a minimum stay of 14 days over the next two years
  • Complete a minimum stay of 7 days in Portugal during the first year
  • On the fifth year a definitive permit may be applied for, giving the opportunity to apply for Portuguese citizenship

NON HABITUAL RESIDENT (NHR)

This is a tax regime design for non-habitual residents of Portugal and allows for tax exemptions on almost all forms of foreign income and a flat rate tax rate of 20% on income from the majority of revenue sources.

  • Tax exemption on inheritance
